Chocolate Biscuit Dessert

I first had this dessert at my mother in laws. I have to admit when I saw it I did not think I would like it; it is just something I have never tried before. My son and I ended up eating the entire pan, no joke that is how good it is. This reminded me of a Saudi version of southern banana pudding. The tea biscuits and the chocolate combine so well overnight. I have never saw any Qashta in the states before but Nestles does have a thick table cream in the baking section that works pretty well as a replacement. If you are in the Middle East, you can find it.

2 packets (200 grams) tea biscuits
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 packet dream whip
1 can (170 grams) qashta cream
4 tablespoons cocoa powder

1. In a large bowl, add dream whip and milk, with an electric mixer on high neat until peaks form. Add powdered milk, qashta and cocoa powder. On low speed beat until blended.

2. In an 8x8 dish, pour a small amount of cream mixture on the bottom of pan. Place biscuits in rows so that bottom layer is covered, spread cream mixture on top. Continue layering biscuit and cream mixture until finished, last layer should be cream. Take two remaining biscuits and crumble on top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least eight hours.

Yields: 9 servings

Wondering what qahsta is? Qashta is a type of thick cream ate with many things in The Middle East. You can substitute thick table cream if qashta is not available or click here for homemade qashta
